Merry Pawpins Pet Sitting wants what is best for you and your pet. Our love for animals and commitment to you have helped us come up with the following policies. Please take a moment to look at our policies to get a better idea of what to expect.
Free In-Home Consultation
Before booking with Merry Pawpins Pet Sitting we offer a free in-home consultation so that our pet sitters can get to know your pet and their routine. This service is not timed, as we want you and your pet, as well as our sitters, to feel completely comfortable and connected. During this visit we will also go over your pet’s daily routine and answer any questions you may have. We ask that you have 2 sets of keys ready during this time. While we love garage codes and battery operated locked doors, it is our “pawlicy” to have keys on file in case of emergencies.
HOW TO RESERVE A SPOT
All new clients require a meet and greet prior to first visit. While we love all animals, it is best for your pet to get to know us and for us to get a handle on what your needs are to make sure we are a good fit for each other. No walks or visits will take place if we have not met you and your pet(s). No exceptions.
Reserving a spot is on a first come/first serve basis. We make every effort to accommodate your requests, however, sometimes schedules are fully booked. Please note that no request is guaranteed until given written or verbal confirmation.
We ask that 24 hours notice is given for walks. Last minute things happen and we will do our best to assist with your needs. In an effort to continue being flexible, there will be no charge for last minute accommodations.

All Booked Up? Here’s What We’ll Need
Food & Other Pet Items
All items needed for your pets care must be left at time of service. The following items are a list of must haves. Please provide enough pet food, treats, poop bags, leashes, harnesses/collars, medications, kitty litter/scooper and any other items your pet may require. Please make sure that household cleaning items such as clorox, windex, paper towels, and garbage bags are left out or are easily found. We do not like looking through your personal belongings in order to find these items. Sometimes things do not go as planned, always plan for a few days beyond what you think you will need.
*Please note- if a trip needs to be made to pick up extra food or other supplies a fee of $25.00 per 30 minutes (plus the cost of the items) will be added to your total bill and will need to be paid immediately. No animal may go without a scheduled meal. There is no exception to this. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
We will do our best to provide your pet with their medication. A form to administer medication will have to be filled out by you, and your veterinarian. This form will be put on file. Additionally, you will have to fill out a veterinary release form, that will allow the vet to treat your animal while in our care, if the situation were to arise. Please leave a credit card on file, and cost of care limit. The medication release form is where written instructions, including times and type of medication should be written (feel free to leave extra notes as well, however notes should NOT replace medication form.) For your pets safety, please make sure medications are out of their reach, in a safe spot that is easy for us to get to and is clearly labeled. We will do our best to administer medications as requested, however, sometimes when in a different situation pets may react differently than normal. If your pet refuses, is unwilling, hides or is unable to take their medication, we will need to know how to handle the situation. We will try any and all methods you request so long as it is safe for the pet and doesn’t seem like a risk to us. If the animal shows any signs of aggression, no further attempts will be made. Seeing as we can not stay to monitor your pet for any side effects of medications or lack there of, or if it is an absolute necessity that your pet have his or her medication, it may be in both parties best interest if you consider a medical boarding. We want what is best for you and your pet. *At this time we do not administer injectable medications.
All walks/visits are made within a discussed time block. No pet is given a specific time, but rather a time frame and we appreciate an hour leeway within that time frame. Sometimes due to circumstances beyond our control (traffic, weather, ill animals, etc.) we have to adjust our schedules accordingly. Any pets with specials needs are given priority, but all pets are treated as equal and will get the attention they deserve if a situation arises.
Sometimes due to circumstances beyond our control, a pet may become ill or need extra time. If this happens and time is needed beyond your slot of time, a service fee will be added to your bill and can be paid upon return home or during the next scheduled visit. The fee of $17 for extra time is charged at 20 minute increments with a minimum of 20 minutes.
For Vacation Jobs
Please call or text as soon as you arrive home. If we do not hear from you, we will assume the pet needs further visits and usual rates will apply. If we arrive and you are home, the usual fee will still be applied.
For Daily Walks
If we arrive to your home and you are home, you will still be charged for the visit.
For Dogs on Leash
No more than 2 dogs at a time will be walked. No exception. If you have another animal that needs to be walked, a $10 per animal fee will apply.
Pet Proof Your Home
It is the pet owner’s sole responsibility to “pet-proof” any areas of the home and/or property to which the pet(s) has access. This includes thoroughly inspecting fences, gates, latches, doors and other devices meant to contain the pet(s) or restrict access to specific areas. The pet sitter does not assume responsibility and has no liability for any injuries the pet(s) may sustain or property damage the pet(s) may cause while in their own home/property. If pets are free-roaming, unsecured, or use electric fences, we will not be liable for their well-being when unattended. This includes pets with dog/cat doors and outdoor pets. Please make sure that all pets are wearing ID tags (even ones that are microchipped) so they are easily identifiable in the unlikely event they go missing.
It is your responsibility to confirm your pet sitting appointments. Always directly confirm your reservation with Merry Pawpins Pet Sitting. This ensures that we won’t miss your message and care for your pet(s) will continue uninterrupted.
Payment is due at time of visit. Cash, check, and credit card* are accepted. If paying with credit card, an invoice can be sent to you before visitation. Payments for daily visits are due in full on first day of first walk of the week. Vacation and overnight job payments are due 5 days prior to vacation or boarding. Checks can be made out to Merry Pawpins. If it is a last minute vacation, payment is due at booking and prior to your departure. Failure for non payment will result in added fees.

All payments not made within 3 days will be issued a fee. *Please note- I make every effort to avoid this.
